House of Mess

I have really been wanting to refinish the concrete floors on the main floor to give them a more glossy look.

What better timing then when I am twenty-four hours away from hosting a baby shower?

Oh, why do I get myself into these messes.

Here's what the experts have suggested I use:

I will be doing the entire project myself as I am far too cheap to hire someone.

I am actually pretty good at moving heavy furniture.

It involves a tiny dolly and three million beach towels.

I am a professional furniture towel slider.

You can slide just about anything on a beach towel folks.

Well, maybe not a piano.

Basically I intend to slide all the furniture to one side of the room, and coat the floor with sealer. When it's dry I will slide it all to the other side, and seal the other half of the floor.

In my head it all makes sense but the kids don't appreciate living in limbo.

Except for the four children who all at different times said, "Are you changing things again?"

Wait, I only have four children.

I guess they are use to limbo.

Here's how it's looking so far:

Love that shine!

Will it be ready for the baby party this time tomorrow night?

Will we forgo food and get high alone on concrete fumes?

Will we play slide across the floor in your socks instead of guess how big the baby momma's belly is?

Stay tuned...

  1. I only smelled lovely cinnamon scent and ate enough food to give myself a food baby...it was a great time! My question is how easy is the concrete to clean? I love how it looks but am the worst at doing domestic duties so I basically need a floor that cleans itself...

  2. Ha! Megan, you are hilarious.
Concrete is soooo easy to clean. We just use a mild soap or cleaner, nothing abrasive. Actually I have used comet on occasion for shoe scuff marks and the concrete color seems fine afterward. When I mope the floors though, I usually just use hot water and a little dish soap.
