Well, don't I feel sheepish.
I loved, loved, loved the red table but as soon as I brought it home I realized Matthew is just too big for a kids size table. He's ten and growing fast! So I found something new and thought I would let it sit for awhile before I committed and blogged about it.
Here the room before:
And here's the room now:
These are vintage high school chemistry tables I found for two dollars a piece. Yes, two dollars. I actually bought three and put one in the studio for a sewing table. I LOVE these tables. They have that cool chemical resistant top, and are very narrow so they fit well in the room. We use them primarily for lego's, but I have found the kids in here doing all sorts of projects.
The left table still has the wall collage above it.
The right wall is blank but I have an antique map of Maine I would like to eventually hang here.
The orange chairs were originally green and red. They came from a yard sale for a few dollars a piece. The paint is an orange spray paint by Valspar. I am a Rustoleum girl, but Valspar had the right color for this project. I also sprayed a glossy clear protective finish on top. I did not spray the legs, I like them looking worn.
The tables have these cool painted numbers on them. I have no intentions of fixing them up, I like the cracks and chipped paint.
The bookshelf now resides in the middle of the room near the bed.I think down the road I might paint it black.
And let's not forget the swing. Oh, how my kids love that swing! I bought the Ikea Ekorre swing for Matthew approaching birthday. It will be fun to switch them out.
I also have an idea for a small nightstand so more to come!
Eventually :)
I love love your tables too! That schoolhouse look is so perfect for a kids room. And such an amazing deal!
ReplyDeleteLove them! They fit in perfectly and make the room more spacious ... not that it was small to start with! Nice price, too.

I usually just lurk and read your blog, but I HAD to make a comment about the tables...because I am SUPER jealous. What a great find and great price... LOVE them. (slinks back into lurk mode)
