Postcard

Remember my antique postcard?

First, thank you for your help in deciphering it. Man, you guys got skills! Here's the final verdict:

"Snow in the yard again yesterday morning. Only 20 above. Cold and rain all the time. Case still going on liable to last some time yet."

Photobucket

And second: It's gone. Off the wall, and in the mail.

I mailed it back to the original owners. Or the original home it was addressed to.

Kind of of a crazy and spontaneous idea, but in the end it felt right. I wrote a letter with it explaining how it came into my possession, how it reminded me of a place I once lived and loved, and I felt it belonged to the home it was originally mailed to.

I am not sure what will happen to it. There is a good chance the original home exists, but there is also a good chance it's been turned it to multiple apartments as is common in Saco. Well see. I inluded my address and invited the homeowner to write back so I know it arrived safely.

If I hear back I will let you know. I am very hopeful that I will.

Also, I made a color copy of the front and back and it's hanging in my home.

I had this metal yard decor in my front yard. I bought it a year or two ago but wanted it to age and rust a bit before I hung it on a wall.

The postcard copy looks lovely there. Who knows? Maybe if I hear back I will do it again. Kind of fun finding a small piece of history from 1914 and sending it home.
