Three hours of peace and quite.
It came in the form of this box, and kept my children silent for hours.
Oh my goodness, I just might me the smartest momma ever.
The were under strict instructions that this was MY toy, and any fighting would result in lack of brick building participation.
Then I sent Lily outside with Dallan, and enjoyed a very lovely evening pulling weeds and chillin' on the patio.
Which by the way is sportin' some lovely bistro chairs I just found at Costco. The table was a hand me down and so I was thrilled to find chairs that match.
They were twenty bucks a piece. A bit of a splurge for me, but we needed chairs so justification took over. I am thinking about getting cushions for them. Maybe. You have to consider the wind factor here that is well know for not only blowing cushions off a chair, but also completely dissembling said chair and placing it on top of you neighbors car.
I kid you not.
So here's the patio as of last night.
Have I ever blogged about building the patio?
Goodness, I hope not.
Here's a summary:
We built a patio out of bricks and our backs hurts for months afterward.
The end.
Okay, I will share one tidbit. The bricks are surplus pavers that we purchased from Lehi Block. Basically end pieces that get dumped in a big pile and you pick out the good ones. We paid a nickel a piece, but know they have raised the price since then. Probably still cheap. The patio only cost a few hundred dollars to put in so it was worth the work. The biggest expense was renting a tool from Home Depot to cut the bricks on the sides and corners.
I should also mention my father in law was a huge help the day we laid the brick.
His back probably still hurts, but I don't know for certain as I am afraid to ask.
Anywho, I think if I figure the cost per brick, I paid waaaay more the the lego kind than the patio kind. Kind of funny how that works, don't cha ya think?
You are one smart Momma. Evey told me today that you had gotten Legos for your birthday. Now I understand...smart lady!
ReplyDeleteGood strategy on the legos! Im going to keep that in mind! And your patio is gorgeous!
